Further to the message below, I have now received this update today. In summary the work is postponed:
"Just an update. We have been informed, as the gas leak is stable, Northern Gas Networks do not wish to run the risk of the repair work over running into Wednesday 29th June and the Otley Cycle Race, hence, these repair works have now been delayed."
--------------------------------------------------------
I am circulating this in case anyone is planning to go into Otley. I don’t have any further information regarding how long the repair might take:
"I am writing to inform you of a gas escape on Gay Lane, Otley near the fuel station, these were attended yesterday with no impact to traffic, and at the moment are low risk, however, in order to carry out the repair an excavation will have to be made in the road and 2 way signals used to maintain safe traffic flow
To avoid impacting the busy part of the week and weekend, as the leak us currently at a safe low level, the repair is planned to commence Monday 27th June, the gas readings are been monitored daily, and should they worsen, the situation would be treated as an emergency and they will attend immediately, there are likely to be delays during the peak hours, however to minimise disruption, the lights will be manually operated all day."
