"I am the (fairly) new Co-Creation Producer for LEEDS 2023. My role is to build on the conversations, relationships, Arts Council and National Heritage Lottery funded projects and assets within each ward to ensure that community voice and action sits at the heart of the LEEDS 2023 programme. It is our hope that LEEDS 2023 is owned by each and every ward of the city and as some of you have heard through the Community Committees, we continue to map out how this can be achieved across the year.
I thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you a few dates and key information regarding exciting opportunities coming up. It would be incredible if you were able to share these opportunities through your networks.
Attached you will find:
1) Neighbourhood Host Brief - For those of you who we haven’t managed to speak to yet, the Neighbourhood Host is a paid entry level role for an individual within your ward to be upskilled in the delivery of local cultural activity. With this learning they will work alongside LEEDS 2023 and their local communities, businesses and networks to shape a celebratory, hyperlocal ‘weekender’ event in August 2023. This will build on already existing assets within the ward. We’d love your support to share this opportunity and support the host who will commence their role this October. You can find the brief to share by clicking here. (PDF is also attached and a video version of the brief will be added soon.)
2) Roadshow - Our Roadshows are a fantastic way for you and your communities to come and share with us some of those incredible ward centred assets and to hear about some of the exciting opportunities they can get involved in throughout 2023. Attached are all the digital assets for the upcoming Roadshows, the dates of which can be found here (Temple Newsam has just been booked for 22nd July so will be going up soon and more will follow). You can download all digital assets here to promote on social media and send out through your channels.
3) Youth Summit - We are looking for a diverse group of young people to attend our Youth Summit this July. Please once again share the below with your networks:
LEEDS 2023 YOUTH SUMMIT
The LEEDS 2023 Youth Summit is about celebrating young people, your voices, and your creativity. It's about asking how you want to participate in, lead on and shape culture in Leeds. How will we do that? By bringing together young people and organisations to dream big, exchange ideas and discuss the changes we would all like to see in the year 2023 and beyond!
Designed in consultation with a group of young leaders, the Summit will allow you to share your voice about culture in exciting ways through a series of workshops and activities including a Zine workshop on culture and identity, a tote bag printing workshop, poetry and youth leadership workshops as well as hear from local young leaders in a Q&A talk.
The event will be held at Leeds Playhouse on Friday 15 July from 10-4.30pm.
Lunch will be provided.
Invitation
We would like to invite 18-25 year olds who might be interested in sharing their voice and getting involved.
