Please find below details of the Council’s consultation on the proposals in respect of The Woodland Creation which may be of interest to you:
"Please see below for more information related to the public consultation stage of our tree planting cycle:
Leeds City Council Parks and Countryside Service Woodland Creation Team are planting 5.8 million trees across Leeds over 25 years to combat the climate and biodiversity emergencies and contribute to the government’s targets to increase tree planting rates across England by 30,000 hectares per year by March 2025. This will also form part of the White Rose Forest across the region (see here for information on the White Rose Forest).
Sites across Leeds that have been identified for woodland planting, some sites will be planted with small saplings (approximately 1.5 m tall), some with standard trees (approximately 6ft tall), and others with a mix of both. The Woodland Creation Team have been working with Commonplace to develop an interactive consultation interface for people to view our proposed sites and the specific locations of planting within them as well as share their opinions on proposed woodland planting areas before we reach the planting stage. Please see the proposed sites here: Have Your Say Today – Leeds Woodland Creation – Commonplace. It is particularly useful for us to know about things such as sledging hills, areas used for sports, and areas where the ground is particularly boggy.
Please can you share this link along with the message that more sites will be added over the next few months across any social media platforms and networks that you use. If you want to find out more about the Woodland Creation Initiative go to the Arium website: Woodland Creation | The Arium Leeds | Leeds Parks Nursery. We would like as much feedback as possible and encourage everyone to send any questions or queries that require an answer via email to woodlandcreation@leeds.gov.uk.
