Tactile Paving

I have received the attached information from the Highways Engineer today. Once the scheme progresses formally a full consultation process will be started.

"Dear Councillor

I am writing to make you aware and consult with you on scheme proposals that are currently being prepared for A658 Pool Bank New Road, Pool-in-Wharfedale.

These proposals have been prepared in response to requests for improved crossing facilities.

Details of the proposed scheme are a provided on the attached plan 970-LCC-01-XX-DR-TM-01-01.  The scheme comprises:

  • Upgrading existing refuge island to South of junction between A658 Pool Bank New Road and Swallow Drive to assist pedestrian movements.

At this early stage of scheme development I am seeking feedback from yourselves, Metro, the police and emergency services.   Your information and views will be used to develop and refine the detailed proposals prior to opening up the proposals to wider consultation with residents and other stakeholders.

Once the scheme design has been finalised and costed the proposals will be reported formally to the Chief Officer and Highways and Transportation Board for approval and a formal decision to proceed with the works.  The Board always consider all consultation feedback carefully before taking decisions.  It is especially important that the Board has the full views of all Ward Members in terms of any issues and impacts on their wards and constituents.

I would welcome your acknowledgement and comments with an indication of your views on the scheme proposals at your earliest convenience preferably by 3rd June 2022 so that these can be reflected in the final scheme report.  Should any significant changes be made to the proposals I will advise you before proceeding to formal approval."
