Please find below an update from the Highways Engineer in respect of a request from residents for some additional signage and further speed checks on Holt Lane whilst we await a further update on the Greenway proposals:
"I will arrange for a new series of speed surveys to be undertaken along Holt Lane, to inform us of current driver behaviour along the route. Considering current timescales for completion of these surveys, we may not have these completed prior to the school summer holiday period, but as soon as the results are with me I will provide a summary to you.
With regards to additional signage, I am happy that we can look at warning signage at each end of Holt Lane to give drivers notice that pedestrians will be walking in the road for the distance of Holt Lane. That would be supported by a sign around the Holt Park Road junction for those joining Holt Lane at that point. We can utilise a children crossing sign with a ‘playground’ supplementary plate in the immediate vicinity of the playground as well.
The bends near to Holt Farm do not strictly speaking comply with the necessary guidance for the introduction of bend warning signage. The radius curvature of the bends is not severe and it is instead the narrow nature of the carriageway that causes the issues seen. It would not be an appropriate use of the bend warning sign in this instance.
I will instruct that a member of the team draws up a scheme proposal to include the additional signage as indicated above and once I have had this returned to me and I have confirmed it is correct, I will share this with you."
